Fall Travel in Virginia

10/07/2009

October is gorgeous in Virginia: low humidity, freshening breezes and crystal blue skies. Perfect for traveling, hiking and paddling.

We just took Coco on a Pampered Pooch getaway to elegant Keswick Hall in central Virginia. Read it on our blog at http://www.burnhamvirginia.blogspot.com along with a fossil-hunting paddle in Williamsburg.

Tomorrow we're taking folks out to the barrier islands for a full-day kayak tour: look for video and photos on our blog soon!

Upcoming events:

Reel Paddling Film Festival & Eastern Shore Kayak Rally
Oct. 23-25 in Cape Charles, VA.
Explore the Shore with SouthEast Expeditions by day, and see the best paddling films from around the world at the Historic Palace Theater at night. Skills sessions and guided trips to barrier islands, the famous winery tour, and a sunset toast on the Chesapeake Bay. Pricing is a paddlers’ dream: Only $175 for the entire weekend if you bring your own boat; $250 includes boat and gear. Day rate of $100 is available. Call 757-331-2680 to register soon! Space is limited.

Book-signing:
On Saturday, Dec. 5, 10 am to noon, we’ll be at Local Authors Day at the Book Bin in Onley, VA (that’s the Eastern Shore!) signing copies of “Car Camping for Everyone,” “Hiking Virginia” and “The Florida Keys Paddling Atlas.” All great Christmas gifts! There will be several local authors featured throughout the day.

Hope you get on the water this fall! The water’s fine.
